The Role of Hindi in Education and Employment in the Changing India of the 21st Century Hindi Day 2024

Program Details: 

Lamp Lighting (11:00-11:05 AM)  The program commenced with ceremonial lamp lighting, where dignitaries graced the stage. This moment was celebrated as the official beginning of the Hindi Day festivities. The Honorable Vice-Chancellor of Apeejay Stya University, Gurugram  , Professor Vijay Veer Singh, initiated the event by lighting the lamp, joined by Professor Ananda Padhan, Head of the Faculty of Education, and Dr. Aastha Mehta, Chairperson of the Faculty of Law, among others along with KK Singh, Head of CRC, Dr. Vijay Kumar and Dr. Afiya Jamal along with others.

Importance and Relevance of Hindi Day (11:05-11:10 AM) : Professor (Dr.) Ananda Padhan, Head of the School of Education, presented thoughts on the historical significance and modern relevance of Hindi Day. He emphasized the importance of Hindi in strengthening the cultural and linguistic identity of the day.

The Role of Hindi in Emerging Employment Opportunities in India (11:10-11:25 AM) : Mr. Kshitij K. Singh, Head of CRC, discussed the critical role of Hindi in the changing employment landscape. He outlined how the Hindi language is expanding its influence not only in administrative and educational sectors but also in technical and business fields.

Keynote Address: “The Role of Hindi in Education and Employment in the Changing India of the 21st Century” (11:25 AM-12:15 PM): Professor (Dr.) Kamalanand Jha from the Hindi Department at AMU, Aligarh, delivered the keynote speech. He shared insights on the role of Hindi in education and its growing presence in employment. His presentation highlighted Hindi’s contribution in the era of globalization. He also shared some pedagogical interventions he brought in his teaching learning process to make learning of Hindi full of fun and enjoyment. He mentioned few lines from his book ‘Masti ki Pathshala’ and discussed it with students. He congratulated University and its leadership for initiating Hindi diwas celebration and sensitizing today’s youth which according to him, is even being ignored in public universities too. 

Presidential Address (12:15-12:30 PM): The Honorable Vice-Chancellor of Apeejay Stya University, Gurugram, Professor (Dr.) Vijay Veer Singh, delivered the presidential address. He shed light on ongoing initiatives for the development of the Hindi language within the university and future plans for further empowerment. He emphasized the importance of communication skills in the personality of a persons and its role in the person’s success.

Vote of Thanks (12:30-12:35 PM):    The program coordinator, Dr. Vijay Kumar, expressed gratitude to all dignitaries, speakers, and audience members. He appreciated everyone’s cooperation for the successful organization of Hindi Day.

Extempore Competition (1:45-2:30 PM):    This competition, conducted by Dr. Aafiya Jamal, allowed students to express their thoughts on spontaneous topics. The judges included Dr. Aastha Mehta, Faculty of Legal Studies and Dr. Nidhi Purohit, School of Behavioral Sciences. Ms. Kajal from SJMC stood first in the Competition.

Poster Making Competition (2:30-3:30 PM): This competition, organized by Nandini Sinha, featured students creating posters based on the significance of Hindi. The judges were Dr. T.K. Sahu, School of Design and Visual Arts and  Dr. Sangeeta Taneja, ndi Day Program. Ms. Archee from BABEd programme of SoE ASU was adjudged the winner of the   event.

Results Announcement (3:45-4:00 PM): Professor (Dr.) Ananda Padhan, Head of the School of Education, announced the results of the competitions and congratulated the winners. The occasion celebrated the students’ creative and linguistic skills.

Conclusion: The organization of Hindi Day 2024 was extremely successful. This program not only highlighted the importance of the Hindi language but also facilitated discussions on its contributions to employment and education.
