Apeejay Stya University, in collaboration with the School of Biosciences and CIRAL, celebrated National Science Day on February 28, 2025, with great enthusiasm and dedication. The event commenced with a powerful address by Prof. Vyas M.S., Dean of the School of Biosciences and Director of CIRAL, who emphasized the profound significance of National Science Day. He paid tribute to Sir C.V. Raman and his groundbreaking discovery of the Raman Effect. Prof. Vyas highlighted the importance of science in shaping our everyday lives and its crucial role in addressing global challenges like climate change and pandemics. He also discussed the latest advancements in genomics, artificial intelligence, renewable energy, quantum computing, sustainable technologies, and space exploration, reaffirming the university’s commitment to fostering scientific curiosity and innovation. Prof. Moin Uddin, former Director of NIT, captivated the audience with a talk on “Emerging Technologies and Their Impact.” He stressed the importance of staying updated on developments in areas such as the Internet, robotics, and AI, warning that failure to adapt could lead to obsolescence. Dr. D.K. Majumdar then delivered a fascinating presentation titled “Yesterday’s Poison, Today’s Medicine,” where he explored the evolution of pharmacology and how substances once considered toxic have been transformed into life-saving medicines through the proper application of dosage. The event concluded with a ceremony recognizing researchers who have published in reputed journals and contributed to advancing scientific knowledge. Certificates of recognition were awarded to those who have significantly contributed to the scientific community through their research and publications.
