Empowering Educators & Creating Optimal Student Centric Learning Environment

At the outset FDP started with inaugural session where prayers were offered to Goddess Saraswati through lamp lightening ceremony. Followed by the Inaugural Speech by the Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr). Vijay Vir Singh. Where he welcomed all the faculties and staff for the seven-day sessions and highlighted the importance of conducting such a program at the university level. Day 1 of the FDP was about ASU Academic System and National Education Policy 2020 and the other on implementation of Course Structures  chaired by prof. (Dr.) Amit Kumar Goel, Dean Academics.  The resource person for the first session was Dr. Vijay Kumar, from the School of Education. He detailed the Academic process and system of ASU. He further connected how the ASU has implemented NEP in its academic system. He stated that he National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 aims to modernize and improve the system by emphasizing holistic, flexible, and multidisciplinary learning. It focuses on foundational literacy, reducing curriculum load, integrating vocational education, and fostering a flexible approach in higher education. NEP 2020 also promotes enhanced teacher training, inclusivity, and digital integration, with a strong emphasis on mother tongue education and flexible language choices. The session ended with a formal vote of thanks.

The first day second session was taken by Prof. (Dr.) Ananda Padhan, H.O.D School of Education ASU, where he explained the faculties regarding the importance of Course Structure and sessions plan. He provided a detailed insights into the Blooms Taxonomy and how it is implemented in the course structure if ASU. He provided a hand on training to the faculties and worked with them on developing course structure of their respective programs. The session concluded with question-and-answer sessions by the faculties of ASU and finally a vote of thanks was proposed to all the resource persons of the day.  

The Day 2 kick start on the focus of the teaching-learning process, or the education process, Dr. Vijay kumar defined it as a systematic, sequential, planned course of action on the part of both the teacher and learner to achieve the outcomes of teaching and learning. Education in values is an issue of great relevance in today’s society. Later in the afternoon session Mr. Deepak Bhalla established and enlighten the faculty regarding the use of MOODLE in teaching learning process. According to him Moodle is a learning management system (LMS) used to manage, deliver and measure online learning and development activities. With a Moodle LMS, ASU can build, upload and manage e-learning content and deliver it to learners in a centralized online learning environment software training for faculty.

The Day 3 commenced with the training on ASU ERP which provided by ERP TEAM from Jalandhar via Zoom. The Resource persons were Dr. Manpreet Singh Lehal and Dr. Umrinder Pal Singh provided hand on training session on several modules of ERP relevant to faculty members and students such as Admission, course update, mentor-mentee, lesson details, Attendance, Program Incharge etc. on ERP. The session ended with linking the common reports from ERP with ASU LMS MOODLE.

 Day 4 of FDP started with a fruitful discussion on Mentor-Mentee by Mr. Kshitij Kumar Singh, CRC head. The CRC head highlighted various aspects of mentoring such as what is mentoring in academics, what are expectations from faculty mentors, the frequency of mentor-mentee meetings per semester, Mentor diary format and maintenance of meeting records, etc. Prof. Parikshit stated that Mentoring provide students mental, emotional and instrumental support, guidance, encouragement and better environment in the university. A mentor plays a vital role in nurturing students and has a positive impact on students’ persistence and academic achievement and therefore regular meeting with mentee should be recorded for development of mentees and this is the reason why the practices of SCM in ASU is done by the mentors with the help of COE.

Day 5 of FDP was all about OBE implementation it was told that OBE support overall development of the students as it is an activity-based learning helps to develop social skills and also fosters team spirit in them. It helps to enhance the knowledge at the ground level. It supports students to acquire knowledge outside their educational environment and know reality. In continuation of this PO attainment was elaborately explained by Dr.Parikshit he explained that program will have multiple courses for which attainment will be calculated. Combining all of them through CO-PO mapping, attainment for the program is evaluated to identify the level of transformation of the students at the end of the program in terms of skill and knowledge development. 

Day 6 of FDP Ist session was taken by Deputy Registrar Mohsin Khan where he briefed about the ASU governance .structure and composition for the smooth and efficient functioning of university.
