The School of Pharmaceutical Sciences organized a Community Awareness Program on “Pharmacovigilance and Adverse Drug Reactions (ADRs)” in collaboration with Pharmacovigilance Programme of India (PvPI), Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (IPC), and Walter Bushnell Pvt. Ltd. at various Primary and Community Health Centres (PHCs/CHCs) in nearby villages, including Dudhola, Kaliaka, and Pali.
The initiative aimed to sensitize both patients and healthcare professionals about the importance of ADR reporting and safe medication practices. The awareness drive included interactive discussions on ADR reporting, distribution of educational materials, and creative engagement activities to promote patient safety.
On 19th September, awareness sessions were conducted at the healthcare centres in Kaliaka and Pali. The program commenced with an address by Dr. Rani Mansuri & Dr. Shilpa Choudhary faculties, SPS, who introduced the objectives and significance of the National Pharmacovigilance Week. Students of SPS actively participated by performing a Nukkad Natak (street play) to educate the local community about ADRs and pharmacovigilance. The performance emphasized the importance of reporting side effects and encouraged community involvement in fostering a culture of vigilance in healthcare. Faculty members supervised the activities, and students were commended for their creativity and impactful communication.
On the following day, another awareness session was organized at the Primary Health Centre, Dudhola. The overall program witnessed active participation from more than 500 patients and PHC staff. The program successfully engaged students, faculty, healthcare workers, and community members, reinforcing the shared responsibility of ensuring safe and effective use of medicines.
