Seminar on Transforming TB Diagnosis and Treatment

On the occasion of World Tuberculosis Day, the School of Biosciences at Apeejay Stya University, Sohna, Gurugram, organized a seminar titled “Transforming TB Diagnosis and Treatment” on March 27, 2025. The event aimed to raise awareness about the latest advancements in tuberculosis (TB) diagnosis and treatment and foster dialogue among students, faculty, and experts.

The keynote speaker, Dr. Ashok Rattan, a renowned microbiologist and public health expert, delivered an insightful session highlighting cutting-edge innovations in TB management. His talk covered molecular diagnostic techniques such as GeneXpert and LAMP, AI-driven radiological imaging, and novel biomarkers for early TB detection. He also discussed advancements in treatment, including shorter drug regimens, bacteriophage therapy, and progress in TB vaccine development.

Dr. Rattan emphasized the importance of global health strategies like the WHO End TB Strategy, stressing public-private partnerships and community involvement in TB eradication efforts. An interactive Q&A session followed, encouraging students to engage in discussions about research opportunities and career paths in TB diagnostics and public health. This seminar highlighted the role of interdisciplinary collaboration, innovation, and community engagement in the fight against tuberculosis, inspiring participants to contribute meaningfully to global health initiatives.
