Distinguished Professor Dr. Vimala Veeraraghavan, Doctorate in Psychology, is a double M.A. from Delhi University, and a Gold Medalist in Masters in psychology. She has more than 50 years of teaching and research experience, training and guiding research scholars, and has headed the Departments of Psychology and Applied Psychology in the same university. She served as Associate Professor in Jawaharlal Nehru University and has guided more than 20 Ph.D. students and 30 M.Phil. students.
After retirement, she served at Amity University, where she established the Department of Psychology and Department of Forensic Sciences, instituting graduate, postgraduate, and Ph.D programs in psychology. Subsequently, on invitation, she joined Indira Gandhi National Open University as Emeritus Professor, Psychology, and established the psychology department, offering graduate, postgraduate and Ph.D programs in psychology. Invited by the Central University, Tamil Nadu, she established psychology department and offered courses at all levels. Presently she is Dean Academics and Emeritus Professor, Psychology and Education at Apeejay Stya University, Sohna, Gurgaon.
She has been a visiting professor to Thammasat University Bangkok, delivered invited lectures in Universities of Bergen, Malaysia, Penn State University and South Florida University, USA, She also served as one of the members of Board of Governors in the Gulf Medical College, Ajman, UAE. She is expert consultant and external examiner
for the MIE at Mauritius.
She has conducted workshops and international and national conferences in subjects related to psychology and mental health.
She has been the recipient of many awards, the notable-The Lifetime Achievement Award of the Asiatic Society for her lifelong contribution to psychology .
She has research publication around 20, authored 25 books, contributed chapters in books, published about 100 indexed journals articles
