Gurgaon, May 3, 2014: Apeejay Stya University (ASU) organised a National Conference on the 'Emerging Trends in Engineering and Technology' which saw participation from various universities, institutions and industries including MNCs like Ericsson, Telmar and Wipro, among others. 56 research papers from various institutions, faculty and students were presented at the conference.
Keeping with the university philosophy of trans-disciplinary approach and search for excellence, particularly in the area of technology, number of innovations, concepts, case studies and review papers were also presented. The conference was conducted in 2 sessions wherein the morning session included the keynote address from Dr. S.K. Salwan, Honorary Professor (Emeritus) and CEO of Apeejay Education Society. Dr. Salwan extensively discussed about Science, Engineering Materials and the linkages with nature & the future of research in areas like aviation and space crafts. He truly inspired the young faculty and students.
Dr. K.K. Dwivedi, Vice-Chancellor of Apeejay Education Society gave a very wide coverage on ‘Imaginative Ideas and Emerging Technologies’ and ideas spanning across physical sciences, life sciences, nuclear science and stressed upon the need to have industry related research and innovation for nation-building.
Dr. Sarbjit Singh, Convener of the conference highlighted the importance of knowledge gaining and knowledge sharing through conferences, workshops and seminars with an aim to draw synergy through networking and have more cost-efficient solutions to serve the community and the nation.
Dr. Moinuddin, Dean of Jamia Hamdard University, spoke about his research work on the effect of electric magnetic radiation from roof top microwave towers, dispelling fears of its ill-effects on health but also stressed on keeping safe distance.
Dr. Piyush Maheshwari from Ericson spoke on the emerging trends ‘Internet on Things’ and also emphasised on cost-efficient solutions through cloud computing.
The post-lunch session was all the more interesting wherein various areas of technology specialisations and management techniques were conducted in 4 tracks, run concurrently under the supervision of various technology experts who acted as the chairpersons. These sessions gave impetus in the areas of Product Design, Cloud Computing, Embedded Software, Power Grid Management, Instrumentation and Control, Big data, Data Mining, Lean Manufacturing and Technologies. In each track, one best paper was awarded the ‘Certificate of Excellence’ which was also received by a student of 2nd year, CSE, ASU.
This conference provided a common platform for the faculty and students of various disciplines to come together, interact, share knowledge as they networked with each other.
