London, June 24, 2014: Mrs. Sushma Paul Berlia, Co-Promoter & President, Apeejay Stya & Svran Group has been recognised and awarded for her contribution to Indian education through Apeejay Education Society & Apeejay Stya University. A first of its kind initiative in London, Skill Tree Knowledge Consortium, India’s first syndicate of private universities and colleges, profiled few of India’s top educational institutions. The aim was to position Indian colleges and universities as proven leaders on a global platform.
The Chief Guest for the occasion was Mr. Bob Blackman, MP, UK. Lord Swraj Paul was also present on the occasion as the Guest of Honour. The programme kicked off at the House of Commons, hosted by Mr. Bob Blackman, Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group of British Hindus. This will be followed by a gala awards dinner at Madame Tussauds, well attended by various luminaries from London like Ms. Shami Chakrabarti, Chancellor,Queen's University Belfast; Mr. Kamalesh Sharma, Chancellor, University of Sussex; Dr. Mahaveer Goelchha, Director of External Relations, London School of Economics; Mr. Ranjan Mathai, Indian High Commissioner to United Kingdom and Dr. Joanna Newman, Director of the UK Higher Education International Unit, among many other prominent dignitaries.
The keynote speeches delivered at the event discussed India as a growing destination for research and development, Indian higher education in the global knowledge economy, and India and the UK’s relationship for higher education. The event was supported by Lavasa Corporation Limited, which is currently working on the creation of the first of India's 100 new cities.
