Gurugram, March 06, 2023: The Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) has declared March 6 to be National Pharmacy Education Day in remembrance of Professor Mahadeva Lal Schroff's birth anniversary and to honour his role in founding pharmacy education in India. With a vision to strengthen the Research Environment at Apeejay Stya University, the school has already launched chair in the name of Prof M.L. Schroff.
On this auspicious occasion, a one-day symposium was organised by Prof M. L. Schroff Chair at School of Pharmaceutical Sciences (SPS) in collaboration with Indian Pharmaceutical Association, Delhi Branch and Walter Bushnell. Dr Anupama Diwan, Dean, in her inaugural speech, briefed about research conducted at school and activities under Prof M. L. Schroff Chair. She encouraged all budding pharmacists to write articles and involve in research. Prof D. K. Majumdar, Professor at SPS shared his experience as a student of Prof M. L. Schroff. He also briefed about the journey of Prof Schroff from freedom fighter to the founder of pharmacy education in India.
Various industry experts through multiple sessions discussed about the National Education Policy 2020, Clinical Research in India, Herbal Colours and the importance of fostering a thriving healthcare innovation ecosystem. Further, there were sessions that elaborated on the functions of Indian Pharmaceutical Associations and about learning software skills like SAP & other pharma software to achieve career goals.
