Bhopal, April 19, 2013: The National Symposium on the ‘Modern Aspects of Drug Design, Discovery & Development’ was recently organised by the Association of Pharmacy Professionals (APP), in collaboration with Apeejay Stya University in Bhopal. The Symposium was attended by Prof. Anupama Diwan, Dr. Saurabh Dahiya and Col Santosh Dabral (from Apeejay Stya University) who were also the core speakers for the day-long Symposium.

The Chief Guest for the occasion was Mr. N.K. Jain, renowned Pharmaceutics Professor from Sagar University who delivered a talk on ‘Drug Targeting’. He also discussed the need for collaborating in order to enhance research and appreciated ASU’s initiative in this direction. The talk was followed by the theme lecture by Prof. Anupama Diwan on ‘Drug Design, Discovery and Development: Challenges Ahead’ who discussed various stages of ‘Product Development’. She shared relevant case studies and explained the importance of learning ‘QbD & DOE’ in order to optimise the effort, time and cost involved for research in Pharma. Col Santosh Dabral spoke about ‘Measurement System Analysis & Design of Experiments’. The post lunch lecture on ‘IPR & latest issues’ by Dr. Saurabh Dahiya was very well received by the audience which included speakers, guests from pharmacy colleges from Bhopal and around 80 students from over 5 states, viz., MP, UP, Haryana, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh. Dr. Umesh Patil, Principal, People’s University, Bhopal was also among the prominent speakers for the Symposium. ASU’s M.Pharma student, Shanti Ratna, won the Best Poster Award.
