New Delhi, March 29, 2013: Apeejay Stya University, in association with the Indian Federation for Fashion Development (IFFD) recently organised the India Fashion Summit 2013. The theme for the Show was women empowerment and aimed at encouraging young designers to keep up their innovation & creativity. The Summit was held at Hotel Eros Hilton, New Delhi.

Mr. Rashid Alvi, Member-Rajya Sabha & Spokesperson, Congress was the esteemed Chief Guest for the Summit along with Mr. Aditya Berlia, Pro Chancellor of Apeejay Stya University who was present at the occasion as the Guest of Honour.

The event started with a fashion show that showcased collections by designers Amit Talwar, Alka Kumar, Rajdeep Ranawat, Sumit Dasgupta, Vikas Jain, Sanna Chandana, Rosy Ahluwalia and Samant Chauhan. It was followed by an awards function.

The other dignitaries who were present included Mr. Rohit Bal, renowned fashion designer; Ms. Shahnaz Hussain, CEO of Shahnaz Herbals Inc; Delhi socialite, Ms. Vendy Mehra; Ms. Shibani Kashyap, famous Indian singer; among others. Mercedes Benz was the main sponsor of the event. The event included seven fashion shows & Apeejay Design School also presented their summer collection as Apeejay students showcased their creations.

Apeejay was conferred the Best Design-Fashion Institute Award along with Mr. Rohit Bal who received the Lifetime Achievement Award. Ms. Shahnaz Hussain bagged the Best Industry Icon Award. On receiving the award, Mr. Aditya Berlia, Pro Chancellor of Apeejay Stya University dedicated the same to the students and faculty of Apeejay. The event was a part of Apeejay’s ongoing endeavour to carry forth the Apeejay legacy of 47 years & to achieve excellence in design education globally. The Fashion Summit was a joint effort of Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Apeejay Institute of Design & Apeejay Stya University.
