Apeejay Stya University (ASU) - India’s first Liberal Arts & Meta University - has been conferred the “Best Innovation by Private University” award in the category of “Higher Education Institutes” (HEIs) at the World Education Summit 2012.
The award was presented at a glittering ceremony held at Hotel Le Meridien, New Delhi as part of the two-day World Education Summit 2012 being attended by leading academic leaders and policy-makers from across the globe to discuss and deliberate on a wide range of pertinent issues related to Education. The Summit is being jointly organised by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Centre for Science, Development & Media Studies and Elets Technomedia, and is supported by the Directorate General of Employment and Training (DGET), Government of India, UNESCO and other reputed organisations.
Speaking on the achievement, Mrs. Sushma Berlia, ASU Chancellor & President, Apeejay Stya & Svran Group, said, “The award is a testimony to Apeejay’s 45+ years of commitment to education and its long-term vision of producing renaissance men and women who would be the thought leaders of tomorrow. The university was the culmination of the long-standing dream of our late Founder Chancellor Dr. Stya Paul, to establish a seat of global learning that would bring about transformation of society through value-based education, man-making and nation-building. This award will further encourage us in our endeavour to deliver quality education in sync with India’s emergence as a knowledge superpower.”
Commenting on the achievement, ASU Pro Chancellor, Mr. Aditya Berlia added, “At ASU, our effort has always been to provide a supportive & nurturing environment through an internationally-aligned curriculum designed to foster trans-disciplinary education, critical thinking and redefine academic freedom while linking it to market dynamics. We are happy that our teaching-learning pedagogy and Liberal Arts Approach has been recognised as a pioneering and innovative concept.”
ASU endeavours to enhance students' analytical skills by including research from the very first year at the Bachelors level, supported by state-of-the-art infrastructure. Unlike most universities, ASU allows its students to choose their fields of study, customise their schedules and alter their programmes right upto the later semesters, based on their individual interests. Each course is carefully selected and vetted, and is further revisited regularly in sync with the changing market dynamics, with ASU’s "Mark to Market" approach.
ASU's strong interface with the industry facilitates research projects and placements for its students. It further leverages on the existing industry-academia linkages of other established Apeejay institutions of higher learning in all disciplines being offered by ASU.
ASU strives to develop its students into the leaders of tomorrow, who can infuse the world with the energy of their ideas and innovations, and advance the frontiers of knowledge and research in ways that translate into tangible benefits for the community and country.
