Gurugram, Sep 25, 2019: To bring attention to pharmacists and the benefits they offer when it comes to health, World Pharmacist Day was celebrated all over the world on 25th September 2019 as per International Pharmaceutical Federation. All the students and faculty of the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Apeejay Stya University (ASU) wholeheartedly participated in the event. This year, the theme was ‘Safe and Effective Medicine for All’.
The School had also arranged a motivational speech on ‘Never give up follow your dreams’ by Ms. Jasbirr Grover wherein she conducted a workshop and an interactive session with students to bring forth a positive attitude in life. Thereafter, our Thespian students presented a theme-based Nukkad Natak that was made to highlight the key role that pharmacists play in protecting patient safety. Students beautifully showed the hazardous effects of taking unbranded medicines, the lethal effect of taking drugs without prescription, and medication errors. They also showcased how tantriks and magic men run their shops and make a fool of society.
The students showed their valuable research/review through a Scientific Poster Presentation on the various aspects of the health sector in context to ‘Safe and Effective use of Medicine’ whereby the winners were awarded attractive prizes.
The School of Pharmaceutical Sciences at ASU is thankful to the Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission for the issue of a complimentary copy of the National Formulary of India (NFI) as a gift to the participants of the event so that they are aware of the books and can refer to the regulation time to time. The day was remarkable with great learning about the safe use of medicine.
