Delhi University defends the Four Year Undergraduate Program, continuing its fight with the UGC and MHRD on this crucial issue.
Article @ India Today:
Delhi University, in its answer to UGC's letter that the Four Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUP) was against the National Education Policy (NEP) 1986, has asserted that the programme has been made compliant with the National Education Policy (NEP).
The UGC in its letter to the DU on Friday night had said that the four-year programme was against the NEP 1986 which envisages 10+2+3 policy and had asked them to restore the three-year programme.
The varsity academic council then held a meeting Saturday and passed a resolution saying the programme was in sync with the NEP.
"A resolution was passed in which it was decided that the four-year programme does not violate the NEP as there are exit points after the third year and the fourth year is completely optional," said one of the academic council members, IANS has reported.
