Prof. Sanjay Ahirwal has over 25 years of experience in Broadcast Journalism. He has been a political reporter who carved a niche in reporting from areas of conflict, including Iraq, Afghanistan, Lebanon, Kargil, the Central Indian Maoists affected areas and the North Eastern States. Before becoming the Editorial Head of NDTV India, the Hindi News Channel of NDTV, Sanjay was the Chief of Bureau and the National Political Bureau Chief of NDTV. In 2012, he moved to NDTV Worldwide as its Managing Editor. He has conducted workshops for broadcast journalists in Malaysia, Kenya, Tanzania, Bangladesh and in several states in India. He has been teaching students of Broadcast Journalism for more than 6 years. Sanjay has devised and implemented modules on ‘One Newsroom’ and ‘Art of Storytelling’ both for working professionals and students. Mr Ahirwal holds a Master’s Degree in English Literature from Delhi University and did B.A. (H) in English Literature from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi. He has also done the War Correspondents' Course conducted by the Ministry of Defence, GOI.
Prof. Ashok Ogra comes with 35 years of experience in Print, Television and Teaching. He is widely known in India and abroad and has been a Member of various selection committees for various film festivals and has also served as a Jury Member of the prestigious National Film Awards. He has also produced and directed several news shows and news features. He has worked with the leading media brands including Discovery Channel as Regional Director (South Asia) and Doordarshan as Director. Prof. Ogra has also worked as Associate Professor at the reputed Film & Television Institute of India, Pune.
With 40 years in broadcasting, Dr R Sreedher has done it all. Till recently, as the Director of Commonwealth Educational Media Centre for Asia (CEMCA), he has been working with Electronic media from 1972 onwards in various capacities. Dr Sreedher was the Director of Electronic Media Production Centre of Indira Gandhi National Open University from 1998-2003 and headed two Educational Multimedia Research centres of the UGC at Anna University Chennai and IIT Roorkee from 2003-2006.
Recognised as a pioneer in the field of Community Radio Stations in India, technology buff, Dr Sreedher is now focusing on various internet radio platforms (www.iradioindia.com ) such as one for the National Institute of Open Schooling & Yashwant Rao Chavan Open University and Radio Styavani for School of Journalism & Mass Communication, Apeejay Stya University.
He was involved in launching the Gyan Darshan Group of TV channels, including Vyas (the higher education channel of UGC) and Eklavya (the TV channel of the Indian Institute of Technology). He also created Gyan Vani Educational FM Channels for IGNOU. Dr R. Sreedher is a sought after expert at various national and international conferences.
A Professional Faculty and the Visual Editor at School of Journalism & Mass Communication, ASU, Mr Avijit Pattnaik has worked in the industry as a Film & Video Editor for over a decade. He started his career as a freelance Film Editor and went on to work for commercial TV shows, advertisements, and music videos for various TV channels such as Doordarshan, SONY and ETV. Before joining Apeejay Stya University, Mr Pattnaik was working with the State University of Performing & Visual Arts, Rohtak, as a Faculty in the Department of Film Editing.
Mr Pattnaik has earned a degree in Film & Video Editing from Biju Pattnaik Film & Television Institute of Odisha, followed by a PG Diploma in Multimedia. His interests range from aesthetics of visual editing to sound design for fiction and non-fiction films.
Ms Sabiha Farhat studied Film and Television at AJK MCRC, Jamia Millia Islamia. She has spent more than 25 years working in the Television industry for mainstream channels like Star TV, TV18, Zee TV and NDTV. She has produced shows for different beats, i.e. Health, Women's issues, Poverty, Cyber Technology, Cuisine, Travel and Art & Culture. She has also written & directed documentaries, Patri par Bachpan and Whistle Blower, being the most significant. She joined Academia in 2017. Ms Farhat teaches 50 years of Parallel Cinema and TV Production, Film Studies & Documentary and Pre-production.
Well known for her reportage and writings, Ms Seema Guha has been a Journalist for more than 30 years, having worked for leading publications and news agencies such as the Times of India, The Telegraph, The Asian Age and Daily News and Analysis & Reuters. Ms Guha was posted as a Foreign Correspondent for the Times of India in Colombo, when the Indian Peace Keeping Force (IPKF) was deployed in Sri Lanka. She has been the Diplomatic Editor of The Times of India. Ms Guha has also worked for Research and Information System, a think tank headed by Former Foreign Secretary, Shyam Saran. She is closely associated with the Nehru Memorial Museum and Library. She continues to write for various Indian and foreign publications.
Ms Pushpa Nair is a MarkCom specialist, with two decades plus of experience in both corporate world and public consultancies. The corporates include names like Taj Group of Hotels, Reed Exhibitions Group, Ananda in the Himalayas, World Hotel Marketing and agencies such Hill & Knowlton, O&M, Enterprise PR, Rediff PR and Perfect Relations where she has worked for blue chip companies. Her areas of expertise are Strategy and Event Management. Apart from this, Ms Nair also talks on Public Relations, Corporate Communication and Event Management and is a guest lecturer at Vedica Scholars Program for Women. Ms Nair has a MA degree in History from Delhi University.
Ms Baishali Choudhuri submitted her PhD thesis at the Centre for Spanish, Portuguese, Italian and Latin American Studies in Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, and her areas of research concern Latin American Literature, Comparative Literature and Gender Studies. She has worked as a Project Fellow of UGC MRP project and UPEII project.
