Professor Dr Sailesh Sharma is internationally recognised academician with expertise in educational leadership and management. Before joining Apeejay Stya University, he has worked on various academic and leadership positions in Malaysia, Thailand, UAE and India. He is well known for his work on instructional leadership, supervision, developing school leadership and establishing learning communities in school.

Dr Sharma is also a Research Fellow with the Asia Pacific Centre for Leadership & Change, Hong Kong, International School Leadership Development Network, USA and a member of International Congress on School Effectiveness and Improvement. He has published over 46 papers in internationally recognised peer reviewed journals and presented his researches in international conferences of high repute in USA, UK, Spain, Cyprus, Dublin, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Vietnam and Indonesia.

He is also part of the Editorial Board of several international journals. He has received various research awards and is recipient of the prestigious ‘Mahatma Gandhi Expatriate Award 2014’ by the Non -Resident Indian Welfare Society, India. Dr Sailesh Sharma has also served as a School Leadership Consultant, Leadership Trainer, Mentor and Coach with various international schools in Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia. To the greatest of his credits, he has supervised till award a high number of Master and Doctoral theses

Honarary Advisor

Prof. V. S. Garg is a noted educationist who has been actively involved in educational innovation and research for over four decades. He has served as the Chief Examiner, A/L, at the University of London, and has worked as Professor & Head at NIE, Bhutan. A Chartered Physicist from the Institute of Physics, UK, and a trained teacher-educator from the College of Education, Edinburgh & the Institute of International Studies, Columbia University, Prof. Garg has served in the United Nations and the US Peace Corps as a Teacher-Educator for over 17 years. He was conferred the ‘UN Award for Exceptional Contribution in the field of Science Education’. Prof. Garg was awarded the UGC Research Fellowship while working at IIT, Kanpur. He is also a recipient of the Commonwealth Foundation Award in Education (UK). Prof. Garg is presently working as Educational Advisor, Apeejay Education Society, for the past 22 years.

Dean, Academics

Dr. Joel M. Rodney earned a BA in History, cum laude, from Brandeis University in 1959 and a Ph.D in the History of England from Cornell University in 1965. Dr. Rodney taught at Washington State University from 1963 to 1969 and has held various positions in different universities and colleges of USA. He was Associate Professor of History and Campus Executive Officer and Dean of the University of Wisconsin-Washington County, from 1990 to 2003. In 2003 he was appointed as CEO of Penn State York and was promoted to Chancellor in 2005. In 2007 he added the Chair of the Penn State Commonwealth College’s India Initiative to his responsibilities. He retired from Penn State in 2011. He is founding editor of the journal, ALBION, and a publish scholar in the field of British Studies. In 1971, he was awarded a ‘Summer Fulbright’ grant to India and has been involved in Indian/US joint ventures with Elmira and Rockford Colleges as well as with the University of Wisconsin and the Pennyslvania State University.

Associate Professor

Dr. Ananda Padhan is an Associate Professor in the School of Education at Apeejay Stya University. He is a first batch qualifier of NET in Education, conducted by UGC in 1985 and completed his Ph.D from Nagpur University availing fulltime UGC fellowship. He has over 24 years of experience in the field of Academics – research, teaching and training, including 6 years of teaching experience abroad in African countries of Ethiopia and Eritrea.

He has previously worked in premier national institutions in India such as NCERT, NUEPA and IGNOU in the areas of research and training. He specialises in the area of curriculum and instruction, research methods & educational technology, and has also worked extensively in the area of curriculum development for teacher education in India and abroad. He is a lifetime member of the All India Association of Educational Research & Indian Association of Teacher Educators, and the Founding Life Member of the Learning Community & Global Educational Research Association.

He has to his credit 4 books and 27 publications in various journals and periodicals. He has attended 28 national and international conferences/seminars as a participant, paper presenter and resource person. He has also been a consultant to the Certified Hospitality Trainer (CHT) program of the National Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology, New Delhi for the Pedagogy course. He received the Shiksha Rattan Award from the India International Friendship Society, New Delhi in 2012 for his distinguished work in the field of teaching and research.

Sr. Assistant Professor

Dr Vijay Kumar is serving as Sr. Assistant Professor in the School of Education, Apeejay Stya University (ASU). He is also the Programme Coordinator for NSS at ASU. Completing his schooling from Delhi, he has done M.Com in Business Management, M.Ed., M.Phil (Education), UGC-NET in Education and Ph.D. in Educational Studies from Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. He specialises in the Education of Deprived Sections of the Society, Sociology of Education, Teaching of Commerce (Accountancy and Business Studies), Educational Administration, Planning & Organisation and ICT. He is also a recipient of the ‘National Award for Best ICT Integration’ by Intel Inc and also the ‘Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert Award’. He has presented papers in many national and international conferences & seminars and has authored a book on OBCs along with the research papers published in national and international journals.
