Faridabad, Oct. 14, 2015: The Corporate Resource Centre, in association with the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, had organised a study visit to BSNL, Faridabad wherein the students were shown how the telecom network actually works and how a call is routed from one telephone system to another within local area or across cities. They were also explained the concepts of Long Distance Charging Area (LDCA), Short Distance Charging Area (SDCA) and Indian Numbering System.

New Delhi, Oct. 9, 2015: In Apeejay Stya Group’s calendar, October 4, 2015 was a very special and nostalgic day as it marked the 96th birth anniversary of Dr. Stya Paul, Founder Chairman of Apeejay Stya Group & Apeejay Education Society and Founder Chancellor of Apeejay Stya University. To commemorate this birth anniversary, a special function was organised on the evening of October 9, at Apeejay School, Sheikh Sarai, New Delhi.

In tune with the affinity of the Apeejay Education Society (AES) with heritage, culture and performing arts, the Founder’s Day was marked by a musical mono-act presentation, ‘Saahab’ by eminent artiste Padma ShriShekhar Sen. ‘Sahaab’ presented a story of a small boy and a journey to success despite several adversities. This was preceded by a soul-stirring and scintillating Sarod recital by Dr. Neha Berlia, granddaughter of Dr. Stya Paul and Member of the Management Board of the Apeejay Stya &Svran Group.

Dr. Stya Paul, a leader par excellence and a legend, a distinguished industrialist, educationist, freedom fighter and philanthropist had set up the first Apeejay School at Jalandhar in 1967 under the aegis of the Apeejay Education Society. He went on to establish 29 not-for-profit educational institutions across the country, including the Apeejay Stya University. Today the Society has 25 campuses and more than 40,000 students.

Remembering the dynamic and multi-faceted personality of her father, Mrs.Sushma Paul Berlia said on the occasion, “My father was an extra ordinary soul with an extra ordinary vision, a vision which even today we are struggling to find among so many”, said Mrs.Sushma Paul Berlia, Co-Promoter & President, Apeejay Stya &Svran Group; President, Apeejay Education Society; Co-Founder & Chancellor, Apeejay Stya University. Mrs. Berlia recounted Dr. Stya Paul’s deep commitment to women’s education and empowerment & his human values, which have acted as a source of inspiration to many who came in contact with this extra ordinary human being.

A galaxy of esteemed dignitaries from across the country, along with members of the Apeejay family was present on the occasion making this birth anniversary celebration a memorable one.

Haryana, Oct. 8, 2015: Students, along with the faculty, from the School of Engineering & Technology visited a 66 KVA substation at Nimoth. The substation is a source station of electricity supply at ASU through an independent feeder line. Students gained practical knowledge of power generation, distribution process and other technicalities. Students were also given the opportunity to interact with the officials who answered their queries and shared necessary details.

Gurgaon, Oct. 8, 2015: The Corporate Resource Centre at ASU, in collaboration with the Department of Computer Science and Electronics & Communication, conducted a workshop on ‘Solving Real-World Business Problem using Big Data Analytics, Hadoop, MapReduce, Hive & NoSQL’ by Mr. Anurag Bhandari from Offsam. Students learnt how the power of Big Data Analytics is used every day by companies, TV channels, social networks, hospitals, etc. to solve complex business problems. They were also walked through some of the popular tools that are part of the Hadoop ecosystem, including MapReduce, HDFS and Hive.

New Delhi, Oct. 4, 2015: Aligned to the countrywide mission of ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’and ‘JaagoGrahakJaago’, Apeejay Stya University and Apeejay Education Society in partnership with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) participated in the SurakshitKhadyaAbhiyan - safe food walkathon at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, New Delhi.

As part of the corporate social responsibility of the Apeejay Stya Group, the initiative included a pan India food safety awareness & capacity building campaign to strengthen nationwide action on ‘safe food for all’. The Walkathon was led by Symphony, the band of Apeejay School,Sheikh Saraiwho were followed by over 2300 participants including senior citizens, civilians, statesmen and others.

The SurakshitKhadyaAbhiyanwas flagged off by Hon'ble Minister of Health, Industry and Power, Government of NCT of Delhi, Mr.Satyendra Jain soon after completing the Pledge Ceremony of committing sensitisation of all stakeholders and strengthening capacity towards safe food for all.

The Walkathon also included several parallel activities like NukkadNatak, skits, painting competition,‘I pledge’ wall and thematic performance on Food Safety. The choir, orchestra and the band of Apeejay School, Sheikh Sarai were successful in pulling the crowds towards supporting this national cause.
