Faridabad, October 28, 2014: Apeejay Stya University (ASU) students from B. Tech (7th Semester) & M. Tech (3rd Semester) visited Haryana Telecom Circle, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), Faridabad as part of an industrial visit organised by ASU.

This visit emphasised on various services & the working of the exchange, Tandem Exchange, Broadband Services, EPBAX, TAX2 and TAX1 (Automated, CCS-7 working on the part of the OSI Model) through presentation & visualising structures used in the current environment for the telecom circle. Brief introduction of the software used for the error detection & correction in exchange was also given.

New Delhi, September 26, 2014: Mrs. Sushma Paul Berlia, Co-Founder & Chancellor, Apeejay Stya University and past President of PHDCCI graced the Round Table on ‘SAARC: Towards a New Beginning’ as the Guest of Honour, organised by the PHD Chamber of Commerce at the PHD House, New Delhi.

The main objective of the Round Table was to showcase various opportunities available in the SAARC nations, to look into the issues and impediments lying in way of the development of this regional block and to elucidate on the practical aspects of doing business in the member nations.

The event also saw the presence of representatives from various embassies – Mr. Mansoor Ahmad Khan (Pakistan), Mrs. Manories Mallikarratchy (Srilanka), Sayed Mujtaba Ahmadi (Afghanistan) and Dr. Nahid Rashid (Bangladesh), amongst other dignitaries.

Mrs. Sushma Paul Berlia, in her address, stated that the round table being held under the theme of ‘A New Beginning’ provides a platform to discuss the required impetus and momentum to build bridges among the various SAARC nations and work together towards a mutually benefiting future. She also pointed out that economic cooperation lies at the core of SAARC's mandate. Given this, economic cooperation must continue to be a priority and SAARC's efforts could meaningfully focus on how to impart greater substance to the agreements already signed and take concrete steps towards the implementation of the same. The active participation of the business community in this process needs to be encouraged as does the involvement of the civil society

She summed it up with the famous African Proverb – “If you want to walk fast, walk alone, if you want to walk far, walk together”, urging all present to work unitedly towards the upliftment of their country and neighbourhood.

Gurgaon, September 20, 2014:Apeejay Stya University (ASU), in association with The Indus Enterprises (T.I.E), organised an ‘Industry Mentorship Clinic’ for all the students in Sep. 2014.The students got an opportunity to interact with the successful entrepreneur, Mr. Gaurav Bhatnagar from Tek Travels Pvt. Ltd.

Mr. Bhatnagar is a computer science graduate from the elite Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi and has several years of experience in building large and complex web and travel solutions. He spearheaded the development of a flagship travel portal, Travel Boutique Online. NASSCOM also acknowledged their technology competence and selected their portal amongst the top 100 IT innovations of 2007. Mr. Bhatnagar also provides consulting to travel companies looking to leverage technology to grow and scale their businesses. He is also a co-founder in a web 2.0 technology company called Tekriti. Previously, he has worked with Microsoft at their headquarters in Redmond.

The session for the day commenced with Mr. Bhatnagar, who very candidly shared his journey through a story named ‘The Story of a Student Start-Up’. He spoke about how he worked on his start-up programme from scratch and the various ups & downs faced by him. He enlightened the gathering through his experiences. The session was followed by an interesting Q&A round.

It was a great event for all the students to learn about the very basic yet vital factors about entrepreneurship
