Professor and Dean at the School of Journalism and Mass Communication, Pervaiz Alam is a Broadcast Journalist known for his outstanding work at the BBC World Service radio and BBC World television in London where he worked as a Senior Producer for more than 15 years.
Before joining the Apeejay Stya University in 2012, Prof. Alam headed a BBC World Service Trust Radio Drama Project on Gender Equality- Life Gulmohar Style- and produced 156 radio plays for various FM Networks in India.
At BBC World Television, he was the Executive Producer of the Programmes such as India Business Report, Question Time India, HARDtalk India, Question Time Pakistan, Bollywood Bosses, Face to Face and Mastermind India.
Prof. Alam started his broadcasting career in India with All India Radio as Programme Executive in New Delhi where he won major National Awards for his radio documentaries. Later, he went on to join the BBC Hindi Service in London where he produced programmes of news and current affairs as well as reported from Dubai, Amman, Jerusalem, Berlin, Prague, and Budapest in the 1990s while covering the Gulf War and Fall of the Berlin Wall.
As a guest faculty, Prof. Alam has recently (2015) conducted a series of workshops in association with UNICEF on radio production at the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) in New Delhi. He has also delivered lectures at the Ealing, Hammersmith & West London College, BBC Training Workshops, Brunel University and Lady Shriram College for Women.
