SJMC Students Invited to 7th UN Conclave as Media Partners
The School of Journalism and Mass Communication (SJMC) of the ApeejayStya University, Gurgaon, was invited as the media partner for the 7th UN Conclave event on 28th January 2017 at the prestigious Siri Fort in New Delhi.
The event was attended by India’s Union Ministers, Celebrities, and thinkers. Students did a LIVE Social Media 360 Degrees for the 7th UN conclave. They also recorded interviews with the UN Goodwill Ambassador for Sustainable Development Goals, Ashok Amritraj and other celebrities.
The United Nations Young Changemakers Conclave is a platform to engage with eminent leaders from the field of business, politics, media, sport, development, media and the arts. The theme for 2017s dialogue explored the role of business, government and social entrepreneurs in achieving sustainable development goals with cabinet ministers and top opinion makers in India.

Predicting Trends in journalism: A Master Class with ParanjoyGuhaThakurta
'Trending topics for Research in the age of Digital Journalism & Multi-Media platforms' was the theme of a Master Class with ParanjoyGuhaThakurta, an eminent journalist, author, film-maker and Editor, Economic & Political Weekly, on 18 March 2017 at the ApeejayStya University campus in Gurgaon.
As a part of the Media Festival 2017, School of Journalism and Mass Communication (SJMC) celebrated its RESEARCH DAY on 18th March by holding an open-house Viva for Ms. Jaya Srivastava, who defended her PhD thesis. The viva was followed by a Doctoral Research Committee to discuss the PhD works of Ms. UjjwalaTirkey, Pooja Sikka and BK Tyagi, three PhD scholars of the SJMC, who also submitted their PhD thesis on the same day.
In the afternoon, veteran journalist ParanjoyGuhaThakurta emphasized the need to go for the latest topics of research in the field of journalism and mass communication. He discussed in detail the trending themes for the benefit of new researchers. He also looked at the future of India media, its cross-ownership and credibility.
The session with Mr. Thakurta was streamed LIVE on the Facebook page of ‘Apeejay SJMC’. Audiences ranging from various parts of the country to the ones who were present during the session asked questions.
SJMC students attend NDTV Youth for Change Conclave
SJMC students attended, Youth for Change, a day-long long Conclave, presented by NDTV on 17 September 2016 at Taj Palace, New Delhi.
Prominent speakers at the summit included actor Mr Amitabh Bachchan, Sonam Kapoor, Sushant Singh Rajput, Manisha Koirala, sports icons Dipa Karmakar, Sakshi Mallik, entrepreneur Baba Ramdev. They discussed the role of young India and the factors that are affecting them like women in media, reservation in sports, social media and its growing presence.
